Charge Nurse - Med Surg - INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

The Charge Nurse(Medsurg)  is a clinical/leadership position requiring strength, collaboration, communication skills, and knowledge of facility policies and procedures.  The Charge Nurse understands and facilitates WMRMC’s Nursing Behavioral Standards, and acts in accordance with these standards.  This nurse is the resource for all nursing units, facilitating best outcomes and nursing practice, supporting nursing staff and working with the CNO and administration to lead nursing during their designated shift.  Charge Nurse (Medsurg) report to the Medsurg Nurse Manager and the CNO.  The Charge Nurse (Medsurg) is the in-house leadership during times when administration is not present.  At these times the Charge Nurse (Medsurg) reports to Admin-On-Call.   

The Charge Nurse (Medsurg) is expected to take patients on the Medsurg unit when census requires, and as such is a clinical position responsible for the delivery of direct patient care, utilizing the established nursing standards of care and standards of nursing practice for the patient population it serves. Through collaboration with all members of the health-care team, the Charge Nurse (Medsurg) strives to support a patient centered culture and utilize knowledge and skills to further the practice of and the quality of patient services provided at WMRMC. .  Other clinical expectations include outpatient services and floating to the ED/OR as needed. 

Leadership responsibilities and tasks will include facilitating bedside shift report, using the acuity tool to make patient assignments, staffing/productivity, facilitate admits/discharges/transfers, attend IDT's, lead daily huddle,  disaster management, conflict resolution, ensure quality metrics are met, and other tasks as assigned.

This position is safety sensitive and subject to WMRMC’s Drug & Alcohol Policy.

Full-Time - Day Shift - With Benefits

Must be available to work some holidays and weekends

Required Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Required Experience
Two or more years of experience as a MedSurg Nurse
Two or more years of experience as a Charge Nurse

Required Licenses & Certifications
Valid registration as a Registered Nurse in the state of Arizona
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 30 days of hire

Preferred Education, Certifications & Experience
Bachelors' of Science Nursing
Experience in ED and OR
