Raising The Administrative Bar To a New Standard

How Nikki Vickers and Andra Choate used the PACE certification to expand their expertise and lead from the heart of rural healthcare.

Raising The Administrative Bar To a New Standard

At White Mountain Regional Medical Center, the quality of patient care relies on the strength of the entire team. While clinical providers are the visible face of that care, a dedicated network works behind the scenes to make our mission possible.
Recently, two of our administrative team members, Nikki Vickers and Andra Choate, took a significant step in their professional journeys. They both earned the Professional Administrative Certification of Excellence (PACE). While they share the same new credential, they bring it to life in unique ways within their respective departments
Nikki Vickers
Nursing Administrative Assistant

For Nikki, serving as a Nursing Administrative Assistant means constantly adapting to the needs of nursing leadership. She chose to pursue the Professional Administrative Certification of Excellence (PACE) to prepare for greater responsibility and to ensure her skills were perfectly aligned with both the path she wants her career to take and the future of the organization.

The process of returning to rigorous study required persistence, but Nikki found value in the challenge itself. She notes that the experience fundamentally shifted her mindset, reinforcing her confidence and proving she can tackle complex challenges with curiosity.

"What used to feel like setbacks became opportunities to learn, that change in perspective has influenced how I approach all challenges now."

By deepening her expertise, Nikki has become a formidable advocate for nursing leadership. These "AHA" moments had a significant personal impact on her as a professional, allowing her to deep dive into the quality of her work rather than just earning credentials.

Nikki told us that she wants her work to signal a deep commitment to "excellence, continuous improvement, and providing safe, informed, and competent care" so that every patient knows they can trust WMRMC is "always striving to be at our best". But she also did this for the people working alongside her. Nikki hopes her journey proves that anyone here can "build their skills, take on new challenges, and achieve meaningful professional growth". She sees her own milestone as a way to clear the path for her peers. believing firmly that "when one of us succeeds, it opens the door for others to believe they can too".

Andra Choate
Clinical Operations Assistant

As a Clinical Operations Assistant, Andra Choate is motivated by a constant desire to grow and stay current in an ever-changing business world. For Andra, earning the Professional Administrative Certification of Excellence (PACE) was the perfect way to sharpen her skills and ensure she is providing the best possible support to her clinical team.

Living in a small town has never limited Andra’s ambition. She views online education as a powerful tool that allows her to build knowledge regardless of geography, proving that excellence is a choice available to anyone with the drive to pursue it.

Andra’s commitment to this certification is a personal reflection of her pride in WMRMC. She believes in modeling the behavioral standards of the organization, specifically through continuous learning for the benefit of patients and sharing knowledge with her coworkers.

For Andra, earning this certification is about staying committed to growth and showing that learning never stops. She believes that rural and regional communities deserve certified professionals who are dedicated to exceeding expectations every day.

"I also think it's important for kids in our community to see that education looks different for everyone, and that we all have unique skills worth developing."

Andra said she hopes her effort serves as an inspiration for the next generation. By setting this standard, she is showing her community that professional development and high-level performance are achievable right here at home.
