Preceptor Program Nurse Lead – INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

Type: Part-time

This position manages the Nursing Preceptor Training Program at WMRMC utilizing specialized knowledge, judgment, nursing skills and financial acumen as necessary to assess data, implement program initiatives and evaluate and report program outcomes and results to required parties.  The Student Nurse/New Graduate Clinical Placement & Preceptor Training Pilot Grant Program was established by the Arizona legislature approved HB 2691| ARS 36-1803 to expand the capacity of preceptor training programs at healthcare institutions. This position and the Nursing Preceptor Training Program at WMRMC are the result of this grant, and as such will include management of and participation in grant activities under the direction of the Nursing Preceptor Program Manager, through the end of grant cycle year 3, ending on June 30, 2026.  At the end of the grant cycle, this job description will be modified to maintain all initiatives and activities to ensure continued achievement of program purposes and goals as outlined. 

Through collaboration with all members of the health-care team, strives to create a positive patient-centered culture; and a culture where the staff is encouraged to grow in knowledge and skills to further the quality care provided at WMRMC. This position exercises considerable judgment in applying professional knowledge in solving issues within established policies and practices, requires strong communication and organizational skills while maintaining all standards of professionalism.

This position is safety sensitive and subject to WMRMC’s Drug & Alcohol Policy.  

This is a blended position – 12 hours per week to be spent on Preceptor Program tasks and initiatives with an additional 2 clinical shifts per week in assigned department.

Required Education
Associate’s Degree in Nursing

Required Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a RN in an acute care setting.

Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or related field
Master of Science with an Emphasis in Nursing Education or related field

Required Licenses & Certifications
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona

Preferred Licenses, Certifications & Experience
Prior grant management experience
